It has been said in this report that the use of condoms has decreased among the youth all over the world, which is very worrying.

Why is condom use decreasing among youth?

The reason for reduced use of condoms among youth has been attributed to pornography or platforms like OnlyFans or natural family planning. Sarah Pratt, a sexual health teacher at the Global Youth Organization (YMCA), says, ‘Some boys are not using condoms because they do not see them being used in porn videos.’ Sarah Pratt says that ‘lack of sex education is also the reason for youth’s decreasing interest in condoms.’ He says that youth should understand that they should use condoms to protect themselves from STI (sexually transmitted infection).

Where did condom use decrease the most?

Some time ago, WHO had conducted a survey in 42 countries of Europe and the Middle East. In this, 2,42,000 teenagers aged 15 years were asked questions regarding condoms. The survey found that the number of boys who had used a condom the last time they had a physical relationship with someone had come down from 70% in 2014 to 61% in 2022.

Do girls use condoms

According to the report, girls are also no less in this. The number of girls who had last used condoms or contraceptive pills has decreased from 63% to 57%. She is also avoiding emergency contraceptive pills while having sex.

This WHO survey found that from 2014 to 2022, 26% of girls aged 15 years had taken contraceptive pills the last time they had physical relations. 33% teenagers from lower middle class families did not use condoms. Their number in high class families is up to 25%. WHO has appealed to the youth to use condoms while having sex, so that sexual diseases can be avoided.
