Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, was recently spotted in London. What caught people’s attention was how casually he moved around the city without any visible security, special arrangements or formalities. Videos doing the rounds on social media show the ruler enjoying a quiet visit, and walking around the city in a relaxed manner.
On July 2, Sheikh Mohammed was seen walking through the streets of London. A few short clips shared on TikTok and other social media platforms captured the moment. In a video shared on Instagram by account Love Dubai, he is seen entering the lobby of a building in Knightsbridge, one of the city’s most well-known neighbourhoods.
But the clip that seems to have connected most with viewers was filmed at a traffic signal. It shows Sheikh Mohammed inside a car, waiting at a red light. A passerby who recognised him waved. The Ruler of Dubai acknowledged the gesture with a small wave of his own.
The footage was shared with an overlay text that read, “POV: Chatting with the ruler of Dubai while waiting for a traffic light!”
In the caption, the user wrote, “That moment when you see Ruler of Dubai. Enjoying Sunny London. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.”

Sheikh Mohammed’s presence in the UK isn’t new. He is often seen visiting or spending time in both London and Scotland.
During his 2024 summer visit, Sheikh Mohammed was also the first official guest at the newly opened Parker’s London, a branch of the popular Dubai-born restaurant.
The ruler’s family also shares close ties with UK. In December last year, his grandson, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, was awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour. The award is presented to the best cadet at the UK military academy’s Commissioning Course 241 and is sponsored by the State of Kuwait in memory of Sheikh Ali Al Sabah.
Moreover, a report by Watanserb.com stated that Sheikh Mohammed has received approval to build a new palace in the scenic Wester Ross area of the Scottish Highlands. With this, the total number of his reported palaces in UK will reached ten which are spread across the the Scottish Highlands and London.
