This was the first flight to land at this newly built international airport. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had described this airport as a symbol of friendship with China. At the same time, China’s official newspaper Global Times has exposed Pakistan’s claim.

Its first flight was PIA503 of Pakistan International Airlines, which came from Karachi. At the same time, Global Times quoted Pak PM Shahbaz Sharif as saying, “The government and people of Pakistan are thankful to the Chinese government for building this international level airport.”

China’s official news agency Xinhua said, “Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Monday (January 20) that the new Gwadar Airport built in the country’s Balochistan province is a great example of the strong friendship between China and Pakistan.”
China surrounded on social media regarding Gwadar Airport
Global Times has received a lot of criticism on social media platform X for describing Gwadar Airport as a donation from China. Social media users are calling it China’s debt trap. A user Riyaz Baloj said, “Gwadar airport is a plan to harass CPEC. “This airport has been built under the Pakistan China Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is built with Chinese money.”
