Himanta Biswa Sarma: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has appealed to the industrialists of the country not to employ illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in their companies or factories for wages at low wages. On Monday, he met several big leaders of corporate houses including Tata, Adani Group and Mahindra and later attended a press conference. During this, the CM of Assam said that there is a need to attack the root of the problem of illegal migration from Bangladesh by not hiring such people.
Cheap labor from Bangladesh should be banned
Continuing his point, he further said, industries have hired middlemen to get cheap labor from Bangladesh. Industries will have to take a decision not to employ them. When asked whether this issue was discussed in the meeting with industrialists, Sarma replied that there was no need to re-emphasise the issue over which Assam has been fighting since 1979.
Let us tell you that 1979 was the same year when All Assam Students Union (AASU) started its movement demanding the expulsion of illegal immigrants from Assam.
