It was meant to be a joyful moment. After a gruelling five-set victory in the US Open over ninth seed Karen Khachanov, Polish tennis star Kamil Majchrzak was signing autographs, sharing smiles and small tokens of appreciation with young fans. One of those fans, a boy named Brock, was handed Majchrzak’s cap. It was a prized memento after an intense match.
Before young Brock could even accept it, a man snatched the cap and slipped it into his partner’s bag as the child protested, yelling, “What are you doing?” The man was Piotr Szczerek, CEO of paving company Drogbruk.
The moment, caught on video, quickly went viral. Fans criticised the Polish millionaire for spoiling what should have been a precious memory. Social media erupted, calling out the CEO’s actions as “petty” and “disrespectful,” and Szczerek reportedly deactivated his social media accounts.
A user on X wrote, “What he did is low – to snatch a cap from a kid.”
It is NOT First come, first serve. What he did it is low – to snatch a cap from a kid. I am sure that the kid is no poor one either ( because US open tickets are not cheap), but still the kid had the cap. It is not a ball that bounced around— Rox (@Rox1054) August 31, 2025
Another wrote, “The guy who stole the cap from the boy, Piotr Szczerek, should be ashamed.”
BREAKINGSomeone wrote, “Nothing is more disgusting than a child bully. He is Piotr Szczerek, the owner of the Polish Drogbruk company, stealing the cap of Kamil Majchrzak during the US Open. Disgusting people.”

Kamil Majchrzak, initially unaware of the drama, continued signing autographs until fans online made him aware of what had happened.
The tennis star later shared clips on Instagram showing him reconnecting with young fans, handing out gifts, including a cap similar to the one Brock had been given.
“Today, after warm-up, I had a nice meeting,” Majchrzak wrote on his Instagram Stories. “Do you recognise (the cap)?”

A happy ending… this is what it’s all about.
Protect this man at all costs.
He also happened to meet Brock again. One photo shows Brock standing beside him, beaming while wearing a similar cap.
Majchrzak wrote on Instagram Stories, “Hello World, together with Brock, we wish you a great day!”
