After the recent decision of the Donald Trump administration to remove tariffs from several electronic goods, now the big statement of US Commerce Minister Howard Lutnik has come out. Talking to ABC News on Sunday (April 13, 2025), Howard Lutnik said that the decision to exempt electronic items from tariff is not forever.
He clearly said that ‘semiconductor tariff’ will be imposed on all these items soon. He said that this rule will apply within a month or two. In the ‘This Week’ program of ABC News, Lutnik said that all those goods are coming under semecunders. A special type of tariff will be imposed on all these and we will ensure that those products are re -installed.
‘Can not depend on South Asia’
Howard Lutnik said that we need semiconductor, we need chip and at the same time we also need flat panels. He further said that we will have to make all these products in America only because we cannot depend on South Asia for all these things.
‘These electronic goods will be made in America’
Howard Lutnik said that we cannot depend on other countries for these basic facilities. The discount on electronic goods is not forever. He clarified that we cannot do any kind of bargain with other countries about these things because these products are related to the security of our country. We will make these electronic goods in America only. & Nbsp;
China has asked the US to withdraw the reciperook tariff completely and correct its mistake and described the discount on electronic goods as a small step. Lutnik said that Asian countries are evaluating the impact from this decision.
