Israel launched airstrikes on Iran on Friday, hitting the country’s nuclear infrastructure and killing senior military commanders and scientists. In response to the Israeli strike, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attempted to express a formal condemnation, but his statement turned out to be a comedy of errors.
Shehbaz Sharif is at the center of a viral controversy after a screenshot claimed he typed “I condom” instead of “I condemn” in a social media post about the Israel-Iran conflict. The post, intended to condemn Israel’s airstrike on Iranian nuclear and military sites, sparked widespread online chatter and memes.
In a post on X, a screenshot showed the phrase “I condom the attack on Iran by Israel…”, which quickly turned serious discussions into viral content. “’I Condom’ Pakistan’s Prime Minister mistakenly wrote ‘condom’ instead of ‘condemn’ in the support of Iran. Later, he rectified it,” a user posted, along with the screenshot.

Social media platforms exploded with laughter, memes, and GIFs, with users rephrasing the line to “I condom this too”. A few users called it a “facepalm moment” and the “typo of the year”, while others questioned whether the original post was edited for humor or a genuine typo. ““I condom.” A historic moment when autocorrect struck harder than diplomacy,” read a comment. “typo or not, that tweet is unforgettable now,” a user wrote.
The accuracy of the post remains unverified, with no credible source confirming its existence, except for the screenshot that is going viral. Official statements from June 13, 2025, used the word “condemn” in full support of Iran, according to Radio Pakistan and The Express Tribune.
I condemn, in the strongest possible terms, today’s unprovoked attack on Iran by Israel. I convey my deepest sympathies to the Iranian people on the loss of lives in this attack. When a user asked an AI language model, Grok, to retrieve the deleted tweet, it stated that it couldn’t retrieve the deleted post.
“Yeah, it seems the typo was real. Pakistan’s PM meant to say “condemn” but wrote “condom” in a post about Israel’s attack on Iran. Social media ran with it, mocking the error with laughing emojis, but official reports corrected it and focused on the serious condemnation. Typos happen, but this one stole the spotlight from the geopolitical issue. Hard to confirm the original post without seeing it directly, though,” it added.
The incident took place amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with Iran and Israel launching airstrikes at each other in the last 24 hours.
