Amid several claims circulating about Moni Bhonsle, the young garland seller from Indore who rose to fame at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, one asserts that she earned a staggering Rs 10 crore in just 10 days at the event. This claim, primarily found on social media platforms, alleges that Mona Lisa, as she is now known, amassed this fortune through her garland-selling endeavours during the religious gathering.
However, Mona Lisa denied such claims, saying, “If I earned so much money, then why would I live here and why would I sell garlands?”.
Originally from Indore, Mona Lisa was found selling Rudraksha and pearl garlands at the Maha Kumbh with her family. However, her newfound fame has also brought its own set of challenges. From YouTubers to the general public at the Maha Kumbh, everyone wanted to interview and photograph Mona Lisa. This had reportedly sparked a series of incidents at the Maha Kumbh where she faced harassment, leading to concerns about her safety.
Meanwhile, there were reports that Mona Lisa has left the fair. In a heartfelt message on Thank you very much for everyone’s support and love (I have to go back to Indore for my family and my safety. If possible, I will be back for the next Maha Kumbh).”
Mona Lisa’s father claimed that her sudden rise to fame affected her business, as many people approached her for selfies instead of buying garlands from her.
