“Fufa ji toh naraz ho gaye”— is a line that many Indians could instantly relate to. In most households, a fufa (paternal uncle) is often someone whose reactions can be delicate. Even small comments or jokes can sometimes be taken very seriously, whether intended or not.
Recently, a Delhi woman found herself at the center of a classic family drama involving her fufaji during a Ganpati puja. Her story quickly caught the attention of Reddit users, who responded with jokes, witty comments, and shared their own similar experiences.
Recently, a Delhi woman found herself in the middle of one such classic family drama involving her fufaji during a Ganpati puja. Reddit users caught her story and responded with jokes, witty lines, and some even shared their own similar experiences.
A Saree, A Joke And A Fufa
A Reddit user shared a screenshot of a woman’s post where she explained that she had worn a saree for the puja when her fufaji jokingly called her an “airhostess.” She responded with a playful joke in return. The uncle later apologised, though she mentioned he hadn’t even realised he was offended. But the story didn’t end there – her bua (paternal aunt) called her mother and said that her daughter should apologise.
“Wore a saree for Ganpati puja, fufaji called me airhostess. I joked back, he apologised (didn’t even realise he was offended till later). Now bua calls my mom asking me to apologise. Funny how the grown man’s pride is softer than the pallu of my saree. LOL,” the post read.

Reddit Users Can’t Keep Calm
Many found the family drama both funny and familiar, which prompted a flood of reactions in the comments section.
One user commented, “This fufa Multiverse is too real.”
Another said, “That’s a classic family moment! A little humour and a little drama.”
“Woh fufa hi kya jo naaraz naa ho (What kind of uncle wouldn’t get upset?),” someone jokingly remarked.
“Grown-ups have the most fragile ego,” a person wrote.
Several users shared similar experiences with an individual writing, “A Similar thing happened to me, I am currently graduated, job hunting, so one of my family friend aunties came to my home and asked me How’s your job hunt going? XYZ’s girl got 14LPA in Bengaluru, and you’re at home. I replied back saying, ‘Aunty, what about your daughter who’s trying for NEET for the last 3 years? I heard she got fewer marks this time as well.”
“LOL. Got fat shamed (I’m not even overweight) by an old unknown lady today so I asked her about her alcoholic son and my mom is yelling at me since morning,” read another comment.
Some Redditors pointed out that the woman didn’t reveal the exact joke, leading to speculation that it might have been slightly offensive, possibly explaining why the bua called her mother.
Well, Fufa Ji’s pride is clearly no joke.
