A woman from Delhi has alleged misbehaviour by a policeman during her visit to Nainital. The tourist, who was travelling on a bike with her friends, shared a video online claiming she was targeted without reason at a police checkpost in the Ramgarh area. The incident has triggered massive outrage on social media with many demanding action against the officers involved.
According to the woman, she was riding a two-wheeler with her friends when she was ‘randomly’ stopped by a police team. She claimed that despite wearing a helmet and showing valid documents like her driving licence, the officer began questioning her without any clear reason. In the video, she is seen confronting the police for what she believed was biased checking.
In the footage, a woman is heard saying, “Mere paas driving license tha? Helmet tha? Toh kya dikkat hai? (I had a driving licence. I was wearing a helmet. Then what’s the problem)?” The cop, in response, questioned, “Peeche wale ne helmet pehna tha? (Was the pillion rider wearing a helmet)?” The woman replied that both of them were wearing helmets and riding safely.
She also pointed out that two male bikers with similar helmets were allowed to pass without being stopped. Confronting the officer, she said, “Abhi 2 ladke gaye same aisa helmet pehenke. Ladko ko kyu nahi roka? (Just now, two boys passed wearing the same kind of helmet. Why didn’t you stop them)?”
At this point, the situation turned aggressive. The officer refused to answer and instead said, “Yahi khade hojao, checking karo humare sath (Stand here and help us with the checking).” When the women continued to question him, he grabbed her phone and threw it. The screen went black for a few seconds.
In the background, one of the women can be heard shouting, “How dare you? Kya kar rahe ho aap ye? (What are you doing?)”

After Picking Up the Phone Again, the woman explained, “Yaha par koi checking ho rahi hai. Khade Hue Hai. Ye Keh Rahe Hai Tumne Helmet Sahi Nahi Lagaya. Checking going on here. Threw My Phone. How Dare He)? “
Later in the clip, the woman asks for an explanation, saying, “Mara kaise? Batao? Mere paas sab video par hai (Why did you hit me? Tell me. I have everything recorded on video).” Instead of responding seriously, the officer brushes it off and says, “Yahan koi panchayat ho rahi hai? (Is a village meeting happening here?).” Towards the end, he makes a personal remark: “Yaha aisi baat kar rahe ho, ghar mein karte honge apne (If you talk like this here, you must behave the same at home).”
As the video circulated online, many users demanded strict action against the officer. In response, Nainital Police issued a statement on X.
“A viral video related to vehicle challan on social media is from Chowki Ramgarh area, where a two-wheeler without a number plate was stopped during checking by the in-charge of Chowki Uni Gulab Khmboj. The vehicle had no registration documents and the person sitting behind was not wearing a helmet. An altercation broke out between the driver and the policeman, the video of which was shared by the driver on social media,” the statement said.
The post added that an inquiry has been launched and action will be taken based on who is found at fault.
