A man who recently visited Apollo Hospital in Sarita Vihar shared his “absolutely disgusting” experience. Gajender Yadav had booked an appointment to consult a senior doctor, but instead, he was attended by the doctor’s assistant. To make matters worse, the senior doctor briefly discussed Yadav’s case with the assistant, gave instructions, and then left.
Yadav shared his ordeal in a social media post that has since gone viral with over 1.3 million views. “Paid Rs 2300 consultation fees at Apollo Hospital Sarita Vihar for consultation with senior doctor. Assistant came and discussed the case for 10-15 mins. Senior doctor came later. Discussed things with his assistant. Meanwhile his assistant suggested what to do or what not. Where is the expertise/suggestions/experience of senior doctor?” wrote Yadav on X (formerly Twitter).
He questioned, “What kind of behaviour is this?” and tagged Apollo Hospitals.
“Absolutely disgusting,” he expressed, before adding, “Who will inform us that consultation fee is charged for consultation with assistant and not the senior doctor? We took a prior appointment for consultation with senior doctor.”
After Yadav’s social media post gained traction, many starting justifying it. “I had no idea why people are justifying this act. This is so simple. I paid for diagnosis by senior doctor,” he further said.
Yadav suggested running a separate OPD for assistants to “learn or experiment” instead of involving them in private consultations. “This was a private OPD for which appointment was taken a week prior. We should be informed that diagnosis will be done by assistant and not senior doctor,” he added.
He concluded, “I was expecting some inputs/help/suggestions for senior doctor to recover faster. A direct conversation with senior doctor. What is this rerouting conversation.”
