Deepti Sharma becomes joint-second highest wicket-taker in Women’s T20Is, equals Pakistan spinner Nida Dar’s record

Deepti Sharma became the joint-second highest wicket-taker in Women’s T20Is during the third match against England Women, taking place at the Oval in London on Friday.

The all-rounder picked up her 144th wicket in WT20Is to share the second spot with former Pakistan captain Nida Dar — Megan Schutt, a former Australian pacer, leads the list with 151 scalps.

Deepti is also the first Indian woman to achieve the milestone of collecting 100 WT20I wickets. She was joined by compatriot Radha Yadav on this list after the left-arm spinner took stand-in England skipper Tammy Beaumont’s wicket.

Deepti, 27, made her T20I debut against Australia in January 2016 — she picked up a wicket and gave 19 runs in her first four-over spell in the shortest format.

Her best bowling figure is four for 10, which she registered against the West Indies in November 2019.
