US President Donald Trump installed two massive flagpoles outside of the White House, each nearly 100 feet tall, with one located on the north lawn and the other on the south lawn. These flagpoles were installed after Trump expressed the need for them and offered to cover the costs himself.
A video that has been making the rounds online shows a crane operator appearing to nap inside his machine, all while the inauguration event is happening. Held on Wednesday, the event marked the installation of the big flagpoles, with Trump in attendance and posing for photos alongside workers.
The occasion, which was supposed to highlight patriotic symbolism, took an unexpectedly funny turn when social media users observed the crane operator relaxing in his position with his eyes closed, presumably asleep as the former president talked nearby. In the video shared by X user Collin Rugg, Trump is seen chatting and posing for photos with workers.

“Crane operator appears to take a quick nap during the installation of President Trump’s flag pole at the White House. The president was seen taking pictures with workers while the man sat back in the crane,” read the caption.
No wonder the crane operator’s nap during Donald Trump’s flagpole ceremony at the White House has sparked a ton of reactions. While some people found it amusing and poked fun at the situation, others defended the operator, pointing out that crane operators often have to sit for hours waiting for their next task.
A user wrote, “That quick nap gives better energy than an 8 hour sleep,” while another added, “He just thinking about how he will look in the history books…” The Third user said, “To be fair, some of those guys have to sit there for hours waiting for a move. I don’t blame him.” “Haha who couldn’t use a good nap? So long as the job gets done, nap away!” a person posted.
In a social media post, Trump said, “It is a GIFT from me of something which was always missing from this magnificent place. Hopefully, they will proudly stand at both sides of the White House for many years to come!”
