Cow dung is a gold mine for India, huge demand in Arab countries and China


In India, cows have been used for milk for centuries. But, its dung also has many properties, due to which it is used as fertilizer in farming. You will find many such farmers in the country who use cow dung as fertilizer on a large scale. However, this trend has now started in foreign countries too. There is huge demand for cow dung there too.

Let us tell you today about the countries to which India exports cow dung. The biggest thing is that this export is not just worth 10 or 20 crores, but is worth several hundred crores. These countries include China and America as well as some Arab countries.

How many hundred crores worth of cow dung did India export in 2023-24

According to Eximpedia report, in the year 2023-24, India exported fresh cow dung worth a total of Rs 125 crore. Apart from this, manure made from cow dung worth Rs 173.57 crore was exported. Cow dung worth Rs 88.02 crore was exported as compost. If we add this entire figure then it will be approximately Rs 386 crore. That means in one year India sold cow dung worth Rs 386 crore to other countries.

Top buyers of cow dung from India If we talk about 10 countries, Maldives comes at number one. After this comes America’s turn. Singapore is at number three in this list. China is at number four and Nepal is at number five. In the list of countries purchasing cow dung, Brazil is at number 6 and Argentina is at number 7. Australia is at number 8 and Kuwait is at number 9. United Arab Emirates (UAE) is at number 10.

What do Arab countries do with cow dung?

Like other countries, here too most of the cow dung is used. Is used for farming. However, this cultivation is not of vegetables and grains, but of dates. Big farmers here import cow dung from India, make its powder and pour it near the roots of date palm trees. According to experts, doing this improves the yield of dates.
