Sumit Sourav, a stand-up comedian, has been making waves on social media with his roast video on Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn. The five-minute video, which was initially uploaded on Sourav’s social media handles, ignited a massive backlash, prompting the comedian to take it down after two days.
In the video, Sourav pokes fun at Devgn’s filmography, saying, “Ajay Devgn ka career dekha hai aapne. Meri mausi ka crush tha wo (Have you guys noticed Ajay Devgn’s career graph? My aunt had a crush on him).” He further said that no one is possibly anticipating a movie from him, yet he continues to shoot. “Usney industry ko diya hai tees saal (he gave 30 years to the film industry). Tum logon ne usko ek din bhi diya hai (you guys did not even give him a day),” he added.
The comedian also highlights the actor’s endorsements, including Vimal Pan Masala and Rummy. The video amassed several views on social media, with many users disagreeing with his jokes. Many came to Devgn’s defense and praised his acting skills. One user commented, “This generation doesn’t have a single idea about the movies like Gangajal, Apharan, Tango Charlie, Rajneeti, Golmaal, etc.”
Another said, “Agree, he’s as good or as bad as the rest. He had some good roles, good acting, and I’m not even a fan. But entire comedy on one person and that too putting him down, is in bad taste, it’s actually defamatory.” While listing his notable films, a third user wrote, “Surprised to see comments here, people aren’t aware of @ajaydevgn movies that are truly known for his acting. Company, Gangajal, Omkara, All the Best etc… the list is too long. He is one of the finest actors that Bollywood has produced.”
Sharing the video on X, a user wrote, “Sumit Sourav’s standup video on Ajay Devgn !! (This video was removed a few days after it was uploaded).”
Two days after uploading the video, Sourav shared a note saying that he had taken it down. He also posted a picture with Devgn, captioning it, “Stay tuned. Never thought my work will take me to meet him.” The move of the comedian has left the internet perplexed.
As soon as the picture was posted, several users expressed shock. A user wrote, “Kaaam, the result of doing this is more than expected! Lovely Sumit bhai,” the second user said, “Yeh toh hona hi tha! The set is hilarious.” Another wrote, “Ajay Devgn sir ne video dekh li Shayad.”
