
International Organization for Mediation: China is now going to give a direct competition to the United Nations. On Friday (May 30, 2025), Dragon has formed a new global arbitration group with dozens of countries. Many countries including Pakistan, Indonesia, Belarus participated in this group.
According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, a conference was held on the establishment of the International Arbitration Organization (iomed) in Hong Kong on Friday. It was attended by 85 countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe as well as about 400 high-level representatives from about 20 international organizations.
33 country became founding members
According to the ministry, 33 of these countries signed the convention on the spot and became its founding member country. The CPC Central Committee’s political bureau member and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at the ceremony that China has always advocated to resolve differences with mutual understanding and agreement, to maintain consensus through dialogue and consultation, promote development with a winning mentality and resolve challenges with a visionary approach.
China is preparing to compete with the United Nations
According to a statement published on the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Friday, Wang said that the establishment of IOMED is an important step in the field of international law and it has significant importance in the history of international relations. Wang said that it embodies the objectives and principles of the United Nations Charter and fulfills the long -standing institutional deficiency in the field of international arbitration.
According to the report by the news agency Reuters, the countries participating in the signature ceremony included Indonesia, Pakistan, Laos, Cambodia and Serbia. Representatives of 20 international bodies including the United Nations were also expected to participate. Some analysts said the arbitration group may increase China’s influence internationally and promote a more vocal role for the world’s second largest economy in global rule, although its success is yet to be observed according to Reuters.
Chu Kar-Kin, a member of the Chinese Association of Hong Kong and Macau Studies, told the Global Times on Friday that IOMED is an official symbol for peaceful and harmonious solutions and the establishment of IOMED adds a new chapter to the global dispute solution.
