CCPA sent notice to Ola and Uber in separate fare case

CCPA notice to Ola and Uber: The Department of Consumer Affairs has issued a notice to Ola and Uber through the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA). Actually, recently it came to light that for iPhone and Android phone users, different fares are being shown for the same route in Ola and Uber. CCPA has taken action in this matter.

Different fare depending on the phone model

Let us tell you that recently some such reports had come out in which it was revealed that fare is being charged on the apps of these two companies on the basis of phone models for the same route. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has sought reply from Ola and Uber regarding this on his official X account.

Are companies discriminating somewhere?

He wrote in his post, “After taking note of the issue of showing fares based on different models of mobile (iPhone/Android), the Department of Consumer Affairs has issued a notice to cab aggregators Ola and Uber through CCPA. Have sought answers from them.” This action against Ola and Uber was taken after the minister’s warning given last month, in which he had said, “zero tolerance towards consumer exploitation” will be maintained. Along with this, he CCPA was also ordered to investigate the matter in depth. On behalf of the Ministry, the companies were asked whether the companies are discriminating among the consumers and if so, then it is not legally correct.

CCPA also sent notice to Apple

CCPA has also issued a notice to Apple Inc today as consumers faced some problems in their iPhone after the iOS 18+ software update. After investigating the complaints received on the National Consumer Helpline, a reply was sought from the company.
