Gurdwara Desecrated In Canada: In Vancouver, Canada, pro -Khalistan slogans were given on the walls of a major gurudwara. This caused resentment to the local Sikh community. The incident occurred at the Khalsa Diwan Society (KDS) Gurudwara, which is commonly known as Ross Street Gurudwara.
The Gurudwara administration shared pictures on its official X, in which the word ‘Khalistan’ is seen written on the temple wall. On Saturday morning (April 19, 2025), this action was discovered when the world’s largest Vaisakhi parade was organized in Surrey. According to the Canadian media report, the Vancouver Police Department is investigating the incident. In a statement, KDS condemned the act. It was a deliberate attempt to spread fear and division in the community.
“Khalistan Zindabad” written on the walls
The gurudwara said, “A small group of Sikh separatists who advocated Khalistan made our holy walls dirty by writing divisive slogans like ‘Khalistan Zindabad’.” It said, “This act is part of the campaign of extremist forces, who want to create fear and division within the Canadian Sikh community. Their actions weaken the values of inclusion, respect and mutual cooperation, which are basic for both Sikhism and Canadian society.”
The community gathered to celebrate Khalsa Sajna Day
Gurudwara said that this incident happened at a time when the community was gathered to celebrate Khalsa Sajna Day, which is a symbol of unity in Sikh history. The statement said, “These extremists are weakening the dreams and sacrifices of our elders, who worked tirelessly to build a rich community in the country that celebrates diversity and freedom.”
It further wrote, “Their actions try to divide us, which are against our unity and peace as a canadian. We will not let the divided forces succeed.” KDS had held its Vaisakhi parade in Vancouver last weekend and banned pro -Khalistan groups from participating in the event. Established in 1906, Ross Street Gurdwara is one of the oldest and most important Sikh institutions in Canada.
