During a recent appearance on Zerodha’s co-founder Nikhil Kamath’s podcast, US entrepreneur and age-reversing CEO Bryan Johnson abruptly left midway. His sudden departure was due to concerns about air pollution which he claimed was affecting his health. This unexpected move sparked intense discussions on social media with many debating whether his concerns were justified or exaggerated.

After the controversy, Johnson took to social media again where in his recent post he warned Indians to “organise themselves” and take immediate action against air pollution. He stated that improving air quality was far more important for public health than finding a cure for cancer.

Along with his message, Johnson also shared a viral meme that humourously compared his reaction to pollution with that of a child living in a highly polluted environment. The meme shows Johnson wearing a mask indoors at a relatively moderate Air Quality Index (AQI) level while a child in a much worse AQI setting appeared unaffected. The scene is inspired from the movie Taare Zameen Par.

In his post on X, Johnson wrote, “A firestorm of debate has ignited in India since I walked off a podcast due to the poor air quality. Indians, organise yourselves and take action. You will do more to improve India’s health by cleaning up the air than by curing cancer.”

In the comment section, many social media users supported Johnson’s views and acknowledged the seriousness of air pollution in India.

One user admitted, “Because of you, I have become a little more conscious about hazardous air quality. I’m definitely going to use a mask outside in Delhi.”

Another agreed with Johnson, writing, “What you said is true and what you are saying is true. Ignore the insecure folks who are or who might abuse you for speaking 100% correct facts.”

“You have done a fantastic job in raising awareness of air pollution in India,” someone shared.

A person commented, “Thanks for sparking this debate, this is much needed. Not many people are talking about how serious air pollution can be. Collective action is much needed, I hope our politicians will take it seriously.”

The support continued with another user agreeing, “Bryan, you are absolutely right. As an Indian citizen I know air quality & how it affects your body is not something many people are aware of. It’s important to educate ourselves to fight this.”

Bryan Johnson’s post has received more than three lakh views since being posted online.
