A bizarre incident unfolded on a couple’s wedding night in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district when the groom reportedly handed a pregnancy test kit to the bride. The unexpected move sparked a major misunderstanding between the two families, escalating into a heated argument and eventually prompting intervention from the village panchayat.
The incident reportedly took place on Saturday, July 12. The bride arrived at her in-laws’ house after the wedding ceremony. She was welcomed with all the traditional rituals and customs. She began to feel dizzy and unwell after the celebrations.
Reportedly, it was a very hot day, and the bride was likely feeling dizzy because of the heat and tiredness from the wedding. But rather than offering her help or checking on her, the groom reportedly rushed out and brought back a pregnancy test kit from a medical store in the village.
As per the reports, before doing so, the groom had spoken to some of his friends. They made jokes and suggested that dizziness could be a sign of pregnancy. But the groom took their words seriously and went ahead to purchase the test kit.
Later that night, the groom handed the pregnancy kit to the bride and asked her to take the test. This left the bride shocked and furious, and then she immediately called her sister-in-law. She explained to her what had happened. She also said that her husband seemed to be suspicious of her and was indirectly suggesting that she might have had an affair with someone.
The sister-in-law took the matter seriously and informed the rest of the family members about the situation. Soon after, the bride’s relatives arrived at the in-laws’ house. Following this, a verbal argument took place between the two families.
Before the situation could escalate further, some local villagers tried to mediate, and in order to resolve the issue, a panchayat meeting was held. The meeting reportedly went on for nearly two hours.
During the panchayat, the groom admitted that he had made a mistake. He said that he acted out of confusion and fear, and publicly apologised to the bride and her family. He also assured everyone present that such an incident would not happen again and asked for forgiveness in front of the gathering.
