Everyone dreams of owning a house, but for the middle class, it often means investing a lifetime’s savings. Now imagine buying your dream home, only to discover a major flaw—how would you feel? Disappointed and betrayed, right? That’s exactly what happened to a couple in the United States.
According to a report by the New York Posta couple believed they had bought the “perfect house” in Arizona. But just three days after closing the deal, they discovered the property had a serious termite infestation.
Hailey Aguirre shared her story on TikTok, revealing that when she and her husband visited their newly bought home for the first time, they spotted termite tubes, visible signs of termite activity on the walls. She said the experience was so traumatic that she never wants to buy a house again.
The couple had recently moved from Buffalo, New York, to Arizona. Everything about the deal had gone smoothly, and they were excited about their new beginning. However, just before the deal closed, their agent informed them that termites had been found in the home. The seller reassured them that pest control had treated the problem and the termites had been eliminated.
A home inspection also reported everything to be in order, so the couple decided to go ahead with the purchase. But within 72 hours of moving in, their nightmare began. They noticed that the termites were still active. Although pest control was called again and treatment was done, another issue soon followed, a pipe burst inside the house, causing major flooding.
The couple now feels cheated and wants others to learn from their experience. Hailey advises future homebuyers to be extra cautious and thoroughly inspect properties before finalising any deal.
