An Indian passenger on a Delhi-bound American Airlines flight turned to social media for help after the flight was rerouted mid-journey, leaving him stranded in Rome.

A New York-to-Delhi American Airlines flight was unexpectedly diverted to Rome following an alleged “bomb threat”, leaving passengers stranded. Among them, one distressed traveller took to X (formerly Twitter), describing his ordeal of being stuck at a hotel in Rome with no assistance.
American Airlines flight AA292, carrying 199 passengers and 15 crew members, was rerouted to Rome mid-journey due to a reported security concern, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed.
“American Airlines AA292 getting rerouted due to a bomb threat has left me stranded at a Rome hotel—my checked bags are at the airport. The crew and ground staff were amazing, but I’m extremely stressed—I urgently need my bags to rebook my trip. Unable to get any help. Please help,” urged Indian passenger Lucky Chawla on X.

He mentioned that he is currently at the airport, desperately seeking assistance, asking, “American Airlines, who can help us?”

American Airlines apologised to him and assured him of help. “We’re sorry to hear you were unable to get your bag. We’ve reached out to our team in FCO to see if we can you additional information,” American Airlines said.
