Once considered a rising competitor to ride-hailing giants like Uber and Ola, BluSmart has unexpectedly paused all ride bookings across Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Delhi-NCR. The app remains available on both Google Play and the Apple App Store, but users are currently unable to book cabs for any time slots.
The company has yet to release an official statement, but reports suggest that operations have been suspended following a Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) investigation into BluSmart’s sister company, Gensol Engineering. The probe revealed alleged financial mismanagement, according to The Hindustan Times.
Adding to the uncertainty, Delhi International Airport has reportedly issued advisories informing passengers that BluSmart’s services have been temporarily halted.
The situation has left regular users confused, especially regarding the balance in their Blu Wallet accounts. BluSmart operated on a prepaid model, requiring users to pay the full fare upfront. Frequent riders often topped up their Blu Wallets to simplify bookings, raising concerns about potential losses if the service doesn’t resume.
Due to the abrupt suspension of BluSmart services, many users nationwide are having difficulty getting their money back from Blu Wallet, which they might not be able to utilise for some time. Reaching the support staff is more difficult than it appears, and the BluSmart app lacks a specific feature for returning funds to the source.
Here’s how to get a refund for the Blu Wallet amount if you are having this problem too. To help you in requesting a refund from your Blu Wallet, follow these steps:
Step 1: On your smartphone, open the BluSmart app.
Step 2: Press the menu icon located in the upper-left corner to access the Help section.
Step 3: From the list of topics for assistance, choose Blu Wallet.
Step 4: You can find answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) regarding the amount of your Blu Wallet and refund in this section, but there isn’t an option to ask for a refund or contact the support staff. Then tap the thumbs-down icon on the “Does this resolve your issue?” tab to get in touch with a support agent.
Step 5: After that, you can get in touch with the BluSmart customer service department and ask for a reimbursement.
Within 5 to 7 business days after your request has been handled, the money should be returned to the original payment method.
