
South Korea Jeju Plane Crash : Investigators probing South Korea’s Jeju plane crash said on Wednesday (January 1, 2025) that they will send a black box found from the crashed plane to the United States for better investigation. 179 people died in this plane crash. This accident is the worst plane crash to occur on South Korean soil.
It is noteworthy that the plane took off on Sunday (December 29, 2024) with 181 people on board. Then it gave a danger signal (mayday call) and collided with a barrier and fell on the ground and caught fire. Due to this, all the people on board the plane were killed. But two flight attendants were pulled out alive from the burning wreckage of the plane.
Along with South Korea, US, representatives of Boeing also involved in the investigation.
After the plane crash, representatives from Boeing, along with investigators from South Korea and the United States, were at the scene in southwestern Muan. Ju Jong-wan, vice minister of South Korea’s Ministry of Civil Aviation, said, “Data from the data recorder found from the crashed plane cannot be recovered domestically in the country. Therefore, today it was agreed that it will be sent to America, where, in collaboration with the US National Transportation Safety Board, it will be subjected to special investigation.”
Xu had earlier said that both black boxes of the plane had been taken out and the initial extraction of the cockpit voice recorder had already been completed.

“Based on this initial data, we are planning to convert it into audio,” Xu said. So that investigators can listen to the last dialogue of the pilot. Xu said that the plane’s second black box and flight data recorder were found with a missing connector. From which experts are reviewing the data to extract it.
