In an unusual sight, a Delta Airlines plane was delayed twice, thanks to two pigeons making their way inside the cabin, causing a pandemonium among passengers as they tried to capture the weathered freeloaders.
Viral videos showed a passenger attempting to grab a fluttering pigeon with his jacket as passengers on the Wisconsin-bound plane screamed. The unusual incident happened aboard Delta Flight 2348, a regularly scheduled flight from Minneapolis to Madison, Wisconsin, according to ABC News.
As per reports, the first bird began flying around the cabin shortly after boarding, prompting the aircraft to return at the gate of the airport. “The pilot gets on and says, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, we have a wildlife situation on the plane’,” said passenger Tom Caw, who took a video of the incident.
“When I boarded Delta Flight 2348 at MSP tonight, I overheard another passenger tell a flight attendant there was a pigeon on the plane. The pilot got on the mic and confirmed a pigeon was on the plane, and said he had no experience with this situation. Baggage handlers boarded and carried the pigeon off. People applauded. A young girl asked if she could pet it,” he said in a post on Instagram.

Ground crew removed the first pigeon from the cabin, but the saga was not over. As the plane approached take-off, a second pigeon was seen inside, forcing the plane back once again. “Pilot said when he radioed the control tower about us coming back due to a pigeon, the guy said that was a first for him,” he said.
The second stowaway pigeon fluttered around the cabin, leading to a frantic moment as another man tried to capture the bird with his jacket. The bird was removed alive and well by another baggage handler.
Delta Airlines later confirmed that the flight, carrying 119 passengers and five crew members, was delayed by 56 minutes and apologised for the disruption. It also appreciated the “careful actions of our people and our customers to safely remove two birds from the aircraft prior to departure.”
