US-India Relations: In the last days of US President Joe Biden’s tenure, his government has given two big gifts to India. These gifts are going to deepen India-US relations and take the technical and security cooperation between the two countries to new heights.
According to the report of The Indian Express, America has excluded some major nuclear institutions of India from its nuclear control law. The US Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has removed Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic Research (IGCAR), and Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL) from its ‘Entity List’.
What is ‘Entity List’?
The ‘Entity List’ is used by the US to impose trade sanctions on organizations that may pose a threat to US national security or foreign policy. Being out of this list means that now these Indian institutions will be able to use American technology and equipment without any special restrictions.
Access to AI chips became easier
As another big gift, America has given India permission to take advantage of advanced AI chips without any restriction. This move includes India in the list of 18 countries which get these special technical facilities.
eye on china
While America has given these concessions to India, 11 organizations of China have been added to the ‘Entity List’. The move is part of a US policy that seeks to limit China and other adversaries’ access to advanced semiconductor and AI technologies.
Consensus was made on Prime Minister Modi’s visit
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told in Delhi IIT that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi During the last US visit, there was a discussion on lifting the ban on NSA Ajit Doval and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar. He told that America started working on a project of civil nuclear cooperation about 20 years ago, but now the time has come to fully realize it.
New strength in India-US relations
These steps will further strengthen the strategic partnership between India and America, especially in the technical and security areas. This step of America also shows India’s increasing role in the global balance of power. These concessions will provide India an opportunity to make tremendous improvements in its defense, energy and technological capabilities, which will take the relations between the two countries to new heights.
