Two beachgoers’ regular beach days took an interesting turn when they supposedly spotted a mystery figure with fins and a “skeleton-like” structure. They said the figure washed up on a beach in the United Kingdom and posted the images online. People were stunned by the pictures, but they also generated discussion on social media. Some users were intrigued by it, while others categorically called it fake.
Paula Regan and her husband, Dave, were strolling along the beach when they spotted the spooky object, according to Mirror. “I can’t tell you what it was. It was the weirdest thing,” Paula Regan told South West News Service, according to The New York Post.
The images appear to be what many believe to be the mythical mermaid’s skeleton remains. The figure in the pictures is partially buried in the sand, and seaweed is all around it. The images depict a humanoid with a skeletal head and a tail-like structure, which is intriguing.

Social media users had a lot to say about the images. Some were astounded, but others said, “There’s no way this is real.”
“Looks awfully staged to me,” an individual wrote.
“Ears and nose made of bone?” another remarked.
While speaking to The Mirror, Paula Regan said “It was last Monday – a beautiful, sunny day – and we thought we’d blow the cobwebs away with a walk along the beach. The beach was empty, so it stood out. At first, I thought it was a bit of driftwood or maybe a dead seal because I could see these funny tail fin things.”
“When we got up to it, it was the weirdest thing. For the life of me, I can’t tell you what it was. The head looked skeletal, but the back part – where the fishtail was – was soft and squidgy. It didn’t feel slimy or decomposed, but it was strange,” she added.
She informed the outlet that soon after, a crowd gathered around it as people began to arrive. “A small crowd gathered – people walking their dogs, passers-by – and even a man setting up the beach huts came over. Nobody could work out what it was,” Paula Regan stated.
“Some thought it might have fallen off a boat, while others suggested it could be a figurehead from a ship – like one of those carved mermaids. I just knew no one would believe us if we didn’t take a picture,” she further explained.
The outlet claims that Thanet District Council, in the UK region where the spooky figure was found, acknowledged knowing about the situation but declined to comment.
