A new fear has been unlocked in the hearts of residents living in West Uttar Pradesh. There have been repeated drone sightings at night, which have led the locals to believe that burglars are operating these devices for surveillance to carry out sinister plans. Amid this, a shocking incident has come to light where a man was beaten black and blue by some villagers in Uttar Pradesh’s Sirauli town of Bareilly district. Reason? They mistook him for a thief responsible for the drone operations. In reality, however, he stepped out at midnight only to meet his girlfriend.
According to a report by Amar Ujala, the man agreed to meet his girlfriend after she requested him to visit her home at midnight. When he was leaving the woman’s house, the locals were woken by a noise and soon gathered at the spot. Seeing the crowd, the man started to run away, which further worsened the situation. Thinking that he was a thief, the people started beating him with sticks. The man pleaded with folded hands, but to no avail. After two hours, the police reached the spot, pacified the matter and took the man to the police station.
Police inspector Jagat Singh revealed that no complaint has been launched so far, as cited by Amar Ujala. The man was later released.
