India-Bangladesh Relations: Recently, there is a negative atmosphere regarding India in Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s Legal Advisor Asif Nazrul has objected to the message posted on social media by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Vijay Diwas (16 December). Asif Nazrul said that December 16 is only the victory day of Bangladesh and India should be considered only as an ally in this victory. He wrote on social media, “December 16, 1971, was the Victory Day of Bangladesh. India was a partner in this, nothing more than that.”
With this stand of Bangladesh, a new front has opened in the ongoing conflict between the two countries. This tension is increasing at a time when Bangladesh is trying to strengthen its relations with Pakistan by maintaining distance from India. It seems that the new Bangladesh is forgetting the historical facts in which India played an important role in the 1971 war. This was the same time when Bangladesh gained independence from the atrocities of Pakistan.

But Bangladesh’s reaction has given a new dimension to this issue.
