A mysterious triangular tower has been spotted at the top secret Area 51 site on Google Earth, sparking claims from social media users that it might be “alien technology”. Area 51, the highly classified 2.3 million-acre US Air Force base in Nevada, has long attracted speculation on extraterrestrial activity and alien conspiracy theories.
The bizarre tower creating a long shadow was spotted on Google Maps after entering the coordinates 37°14’46.5″N 115°49’24.0″W, leaving online viewers baffled and sparking severe ideas and theories on what the installation could be.
The tower was stationed in the remote spot in Nevada, almost 130 km from Las Vegas, the state’s largest city. It also cast a long shadow, making for a sundial-style photo. Google Maps has not named the structure.
People compared it to a skyscraper, an exhaust vent and even an air purifier. After a picture of the tower was posted on Reddit, a user commented, “It’s where the aliens test their various white powders.” One user called it a “marker for aliens it is safe to land here”, while another described it as a ” UFO charging dock”.
“Obviously alien technology. It pops out when the Earth is done,” another user commented. “Azkaban is real?” one individual joked. A user on Facebook said, “A Monolith just like in 2001 a Space Odyssey.”
“The aliens are like we can help you out but we can’t work in those square things you humans work in we need our tall triangle-shaped building,” one user said.
However, several social media users did not take this seriously, comparing it to “a new version of Jenga”, or a “Toblerone trade centre”. One user even called it his “Samsung TV remote”.
Notably, Area 51 has long been the subject of bizarre alien conspiracy theories, particularly after an alleged UFO crash in Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947. A mystic previously claimed there was a tunnel below Area 51 that led to a three-dimensional portal.
In February, a mysterious structure in New Mexico also puzzled netizens, with a large and white disc poking out from the ground as seen in Google Maps. The structure sparked claims of an UFO.
