Norme, an Australian YouTuber, has set a new world record by standing motionless for 38 hours. This is despite people tagging him and even calling the police on him. Before YouTube banned livestreaming, Norme tried to set a new record for the longest duration of time spent awake.
In a livestream in August 2024, Norme attempted to set a new world record for the longest period of time without sleep. Norme’s stream was disabled by YouTube when viewers expressed concern about his health after he was observed collapsing and experiencing hallucinations during his livestream, despite remaining up for 264 hours—much longer than the previous record holder.
This year, the YouTuber decided to attempt to break the record for the longest period of inactivity and broadcast his endeavour live. He spent 38 hours livestreaming his attempt while standing motionless on the side of the road while being taunted and jeered by onlookers.
In a one-minute time-lapse video, which shows the YouTuber standing by the side of the road for thirty hours, people can be seen engaging with him while he remained motionless.
Some of them coated his face with mustard, while others drew moustaches and cracked eggs on his head. One of them even put on a MAGA hat. While a woman kissed him on the cheek, a man sprayed paint on his clothing. However, the YouTuber stayed still during the ordeal and said that after 38 hours, he had beaten the record.

The video was shared on March 8 and it has racked up over 15 million views. As the video garnered attention, Norme commented on the X user post saying, “WAS SO MAD THAT THEY PUT A MAGA HAT ON ME GRRR .. even madder the cop stole it tho”.

Several social media users were curious to know if he moved anytime throughout the video and how did managed his washroom breaks.
A user said, “38hours?? Did he not need to use the bathroom?”
Another wrote, “He didn’t pee or poop for 38 hrs??”
“Why should anyone be concerned? He wants views and likes. Let him do what he wants. Next, he will do something like sitting in a chair for 50 hours and some people will watch it and some will be concerned. Forget about these clout chasers,” a user on X commented.
“People are so mean, my gosh,” another stated.
It is unknown if Norme has formally earned the world record title by submitting documentation for evaluation to Guinness World Records.
