China Military Corruption: Another top military commander of China has been dismissed on charges of corruption. Admiral Mia Huo has been removed by China from both the Central Military Commission and the National People’s Congress. However, China has not revealed but it is believed that Huo has been put in jail. In the last two-three years, several military commanders, including two defense ministers of China, have been removed on charges of corruption. Because of this, no major military commander of China is participating in the ongoing Shangri-La dialogue in Singapore this year.
Mia Ho is not alone. In the last two -three years, two Defense Ministers of China, several generals and high ranking commanders have also been removed on charges of corruption. These include prominent names like Lee Shangfu (former Defense Minister), Wei Ferghe (former Defense Minister) and former Rocket Force Commander. The developments are part of the policy of Chinese President Xi Jinping “Zero tolerance” policy, but critics believe that this power can also be a strategy to suppress centralization and disagreement.
China’s big decision regarding Shangri-La dialogue
According to CNA report, Shangri-La Dialogue-SLD is the most important security meeting in the Asia-Pacific region, where Defense Minister and Top Military Officer of dozens of countries including America, India, Japan, Australia participate, but in 2025 this year, China decided not to send its Defense Minister Dong June. On May 29, the National Defense Ministry of China confirmed that a delegation of the National Defense University of PLA would participate in place of Dong June, which was later led by rear admiral hu gangfeng. Pravakkar Zhang Shiaogang said in a statement that the delegation would consider intensive consultation with various parties so that more consensus can be created, but why did it not be clarified?
