Sasan Power has paid US $ 150 million (about Rs 1,284.6 crore) to IIFCL, UK for this loan. This is the reason why today i.e. on January 1, 2025, the shares of Reliance Power hit upper circuit.

Let us tell you, before this, Rosa Power, another subsidiary of Reliance Power, had also made an advance payment of Rs 850 crore to the Singapore-based lender i.e. Lenders Verde Partners.

Let us tell you, Sasan Power Limited operates 3960 MW capacity Ultra Mega Power Plant (UMPP) located in Sasan, Madhya Pradesh. This plant is the world’s largest integrated coal-based power plant and has a coal mining capacity of 20 MTPA (million tonnes per annum).

This plant provides electricity to 14 DISCOM distribution companies in seven states of India – Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand and New Delhi at the lowest tariff of Rs 1.54 per unit. About 40 crore people benefit from this.

Reliance Power is expanding

Reliance Power, one of the largest private sector power generation companies in India, has a current operating portfolio of 5,300 MW. The company has also planned to raise Rs 1,525 crore through preferential issue.
