In a move to address medical aid challenges in Indian cities, Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa introduced a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance service with a 10-minute response time last month. After a month of service, the initiative received praise from Professor of Neurosurgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. On February 16, Dr. Deepak Agarwal took to LinkedIn to commend Blinkit’s ambulance service, recounting how the AIIMS Trauma Centre received a patient through the fast-response service.

Calling it a “healthcare revolution India has been waiting for,” Dr. Deepak Agarwal commended the professionalism and promptness of the paramedic staff. In his LinkedIn post, Professor Agrawal also described the basic services provided to the patient in the ambulance before bringing him to the AIIMS Trauma Centre.

He mentioned that the paramedic staff ensured critical stabilisation, which included C-spine stabilisation with a hard cervical collar, suctioning for excessive secretions, a non-rebreather mask (NRBM) for low room air saturation, 1 gm Tranexa as low BP was documented in the ambulance monitor, among others.

“This is the kind of service we used to read about and see in developed countries and is the healthcare revolution India has been waiting for,” he concluded.

The now-viral post has resonated with many users online, sparking a wave of shared experiences about emergency care in India. While some applauded the concept of a quick-response ambulance service, others hailed it as a game-changer for India, where timely access to medical help can be the difference between life and death.

“Great to know about Blinkit’s professional handling of a relatively critical patient status. Support systems from private players will help bridge gaps in the healthcare system. You guys are exceptional,” read a comment.

Another said, “Kudos to Blinkit, it can drastically reduce average response time. Meanwhile, hospitals have to be prepared to reduce ambulance ramping.”

“Wowwww indeed a revolution in Quick Healthcare Service… Well done, Blinkit what an initiative. Not only will it empower skillful employment but also bridge the gap between an incident and transit time to the hospital,” posted another.

An account remarked, “The Blinkit team just takes this service to the highest possible level. It’s a great step towards nation building and in the healthcare sector.”

“An innovative solution to a problem statement of emergency medical services, which also covers the gap in the market by ambulance services. Great service and help to save time for needy patients,” an individual wrote.

In January, Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa announced that the company will now provide an “ambulance in 10 minutes” through the app. The first five ambulances will be available in Gurugram with basic facilities, such as essential life-saving equipment, which includes oxygen cylinders, stretchers, monitors, AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators), suction machines, and essential emergency medicines and injections. The customers will have the option to book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance, which will have a paramedic, an assistant, and a trained driver.

The CEO added that the company is aiming to expand this service to all major cities in the country over the next two years.
