
Stock Market Closing On 23 October 2024: After sharp fluctuations in the Indian stock market in Wednesday’s trading session, Sensex-Nifty closed with a slight decline. However, strong buying returned in mid-cap and small-cap stocks which had seen huge decline in the last two trading sessions. At the end of today’s trading, BSE Sensex closed at 80081 points after a fall of 138 points. Whereas the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange fell by 37 points and closed at 24,435 points.

In today’s trading, a total of 4031 stocks were traded on BSE in which 2189 stocks closed with gains while 1742 stocks closed with losses. No change has been seen in the price of 100 shares. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 8 stocks closed with gains and 22 closed with losses. Of the 50 Nifty stocks, 18 closed with gains and 32 closed with losses. Among the rising stocks, Bajaj Finance closed with a gain of 4.90 percent, Tech Mahindra by 2.14 percent, Tata Consumer by 1.78 percent, Bajaj Auto by 1.75 percent, HDFC Bank by 1.26 percent, TCS by 1.24 percent, while among the falling stocks, Mahindra & Mahindra closed with a gain of 3.22 percent, Sun Pharma closed down by 2.69 percent, Eicher Motors by 2.07 percent, Shriram Finance by 1.86 percent, Power Grid by 1.84 percent.

In today’s trade, due to buying in IT stocks, Nifty’s ID index closed at 42,222 with a jump of 983 points. Apart from this, there was a rise in FMCG and consumer durables shares. But Auto, Healthcare, Oil & Gas, Energy, Metals, Pharma and Banking stocks closed with losses. There was a break in the decline in midcap and smallcap shares that had been going on for the last two days. Nifty Midcap Index closed with a gain of 360 points and Nifty Smallcap Index closed with a gain of 225 points.
Market cap surge
In today’s session, there has been a jump in market capitalization due to the rise in IT stocks and midcap and smallcap shares. The market cap of stocks listed on BSE closed at Rs 445.39 lakh crore which was Rs 444.45 lakh crore in the last session. That means, in today’s session a jump of Rs 94000 crore has been seen in the market cap.
