After the ban on Hijab law, Iran’s attitude became more lax, now the ban on WhatsApp and Google has been lifted.


Iran Social Media Platform: Iran, famous worldwide for its strict laws, is now changing its stance. In the latest case, he has lifted the ban on strict internet restrictions. Now people in Iran will be able to use META messaging platform Whatsapp and Google Play. Citing Iranian state media, Reuters reported that the decision was taken in a meeting chaired by President Masoud Pejeshkian.

According to Iran’s IRNA news agency, this decision to lift the ban on the Internet has been approved by a positive majority. Let us tell you that Tehran is among the countries with the strictest internet restrictions in the world, where people use platforms like Facebook, X and YouTube using Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Social media platforms were used extensively during anti-government protests in Iran. After this the government imposed strict restrictions. On this, in September 2023, America appealed to Big Tech companies to help end Internet censorship. Considering this, Iran finally decided to lift the ban on WhatsApp and Google Play, on which Information and Communication Technology Minister Sattar Hashmi called it the first step towards removing the ban on the Internet.

Iran bans new hijab law
Iran has currently stopped the strict hijab law applicable to women. This law was approved by the Parliament in September 2022, but it will not be sent to the government now. Under this law, there was a provision for strict fines on businesses that provide services to women who refuse to wear hijab.

President Pejeshkian appealed
Deputy Speaker in charge of Parliamentary Affairs Shahram Dabiri said that it has been decided not to send the bill related to strict hijab law to the government. If the bill had gone to the government, the President would have had to support it within 5 days. However, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, makes the final decisions on all matters of state. But President Pejeshkian has appealed to stop this bill.
