The most state -of -the -art satellite ‘Nisar’ (NISAR), prepared for the Earth monitoring, will be launched on Wednesday (July 30, 2025). It has been jointly developed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the US Space Agency NASA. This state-of-the-art satellite will be launched from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, India at 5:40 pm via GSLV-F16 rocket.
The purpose of ‘Nasar’ means Nasa-Isro Syntic Aperture Radar Mission is to accurate and continuously monitor the changes on the Earth’s surface. This satellite will operate from a height of 740 km from the Earth in space and will be able to take high-resolution photos day and night, in the morning, evening, in every season, even though clouds and rains.

The specialty of this satellite jointly developed by India and the United States is that it will scan the land and icy surface of the entire earth every 12 days and provide accurate information up to the centimeter level. It has L-Band developed by the US and S-Band radars prepared by India, which are counted among the most advanced techniques in the world.
Satellite will be possible for real monitoring natural disasters
With the help of Nisar, real-time monitoring of natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, landslides, volcanic eruptions and melting of glacier will be possible. In addition, this technique will also play an important role in the study of climate change, agriculture, coastal erosion and soil moisture.
In this mission, prepared at a cost of about $ 1.3 billion, ISRO and NASA have worked for more than a decade. This mission is being considered a major step not only for India and America, but also globally in the field of disaster management and environmental protection.
