Fierce firing in Thailand’s capital Bangkok, 6 people killed, attacker shot himself

At least six people died in a fierce firing incident on Monday (July 28, 2025) in Thailand’s capital Bangkok. The attack took place in the Tor Core Market towards the city, which is located near the famous quadruped market of Bangkok and is usually full of tourists and locals. Those killed include four security guards, a woman and the attacker themselves, who shot and killed themselves after firing. This information has been revealed by the Erawan Emergency Medical Center, which keeps an eye on the hospitals in Bangkok.

Investigation of the identity and purpose of the attacker continues

Deputy Police Chief of Bank Saye district, Vorpat Sukathai, said that till now it is being considered a month shooting. He said, “The police is investigating the reasons behind the attacker and the reasons behind the attack.” He also said that the officials are investigating whether any possible relationship of this firing is from the ongoing border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia.

Increasing violence in Thailand is a matter of concern

The police have laid siege to the area and started investigation. The bodies of the dead have been sent for postmortem and all the facts related to the incident are being investigated.

The border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia is years old, which is the center of Preh Vihar Temple area. The dispute was not completely resolved even after the International Court of International Court gave a decision in favor of Cambodia in 1962. The forces of the two countries have come face to face in this area from time to time, including incidents of clashes and firing.
