Meaning in Hindi: Abstain means staying away from violence towards living beings.

Pali language: I complete the Adinnadana Veramani- Sikkhapada.
Meaning in Hindi: To abstain from stealing or from taking what is not given.

Pali language: I attain the position of Veramani- Sikkha, who is desirous of desires.
Meaning in Hindi: Abstain from sexual misconduct or adultery.

Pali language: Musavada Veramani- I am completing the Sikkhapada.
Meaning in Hindi: Abstain from speaking untruth.

Pali language: Sura-meraya-majj-pamadatthana veramani- sikkhapadam samadayami.
Meaning in Hindi: abstinence from drugs
