Shubman Gill becomes 2nd Indian to score double hundred and hundred in same Test match

Shubman Gill on Saturday became only the second Indian after Sunil Gavaskar, and ninth across all teams, to score a hundred and double hundred in a Test match.

Gill scored 269 runs against England in the first innings of the second Test in Birmingham before scoring a century in the second innings on the fourth day.

Gavaskar had achieved this feat in 1971 against the West Indies, scoring 124 and 220 runs in the first and second innings, respectively.

Only nine batters have managed this achievement in the history of Test cricket: Gill, Gavaskar, Doug Walters, Lawrence Rowe, Greg Chapell, Graham Gooch, Brian Lara, Kumar Sangakkara, and Marnus Labuschagne.
