Investment has been made anywhere … Now only PAN number will be treated with all mutual funds

If you have invested in mutual funds from different places, such as- sometimes through SIP, sometimes in tax saving schemes, sometimes by putting a lampsam amount, then after a time it becomes difficult to understand where all your money is invested and how much returns are being received. In such a situation, one thing comes at the forefront to help you, that is your PAN number.

Why is PAN number your biggest strength?

PAN number is not just to pay tax, it connects you every mutual fund investment. It does not matter how much money you have put in and in which fund, every investment will be connected to the same PAN. This makes you see the money trapped in different folios. That is, information of every fund is available at the same place and reporting of tax or capital gains also becomes easier.

CAS report will give a picture of full investment

Due to the rules and digital technology of SEBI, you do not need to login to every fund website. Now you can only see your consolidated account statement (CAS) through PAN. This is a report that contains information about all the mutual fund folio related to your name, such as when you have invested, in which scheme, how many units, how many units are there, what is the current value, what is the SIP or not and how much return and how much returns.

How to see your CAS report?

To get this report, you just have to follow these steps

First go to the website of MF Central, CAMS Online, KFINTECH, NSDL or CDSL.

Select ‘Request Cas’ or ‘View Portfolio’ option there.

Then enter your PAN number, registered email or mobile number and if needed, then also put the date of birth.

You will get OTP, after adding you, you can see your report.

You can decide whether the report is needed once or every month, and it is to be ordered by email or to see it on the screen.

Do not panic if some investment is not visible

Sometimes it can happen that some investment does not appear in your CAS report. This does not mean that they have gone missing. The folio may be connected to another PAN (eg of joint holder), or your KYC is incomplete. This is the solution, getting KYC updated in your folio. You can easily complete EKYC through Aadhaar on websites like CAMS or Kfintech.

MITRA: New means to find forgotten investment

SEBI launched a new platform in March 2024, Mitra, ie Mutual Fund Investment Tracking and Reclaim Application. If you feel that you had earlier made an investment and have forgotten now, then go to Mitra, put PAN and date of birth and trace the old funds. This is especially beneficial for those who have inherited investment. That is, those who had invested offline before 2010, whose freedom does not have email or mobile number registered.
