Star India batter Smriti Mandhana made progress in the ICC Women’s T20I Player rankings released on Tuesday after a stellar century against England in the first T20I in Nottingham.
Mandhana’s 62-ball 112 which set up India’s mammoth 97-run win against England helped her move up one slot to third in the T20I rankings, behind Australia’s Beth Mooney and West Indies’ Hayley Matthews. Mandhana also now has a career-best 771 rating points.
England quick Lauren Bell too moved up the ladder, rising two slots to reach a career-best fourth place among the bowlers courtesy a three-fer in the Nottingham T20I.
Debutant Shree Charani, whose four-fer helped India inflict England’s heaviest defeat in the format, also broke into the rankings at 450th position. Shafali Verma moved up a slot to 13th place while Harleen Deol re-entered the T20i rankings in 86th place thanks to a 23-ball 43.
England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, who was her side’s only notable performer with the bat, gained 20 rating points to reach a career-best 663 points while retaining her ninth spot in the rankings thanks to her 66 runs off 42 balls.
Mandhana continues to top the ODI rankings while Sciver-Brunt has dropped one place to third in the tally.
