England announces playing XI for 2nd Test: Jofra Archer not included, ENG lineup unchanged

England on Monday announced its playing XI for the second Test against India, which starts at Edgbaston in Bimingham from Wednesday.

The Ben Stokes-led side leads the series 1-0 and named an unchanged lineup for the second match.

Notably, pacer Jofra Archer, who was added to the England squad after recovering from a finger injury, was not named in the starting lineup. Josh Tongue, Brydon Carse and Chris Woakes will continue as the frontline pacers.

The ECB confirmed earlier in the day that Archer’s arrival in the squad was delayed due to a family emergency.

In the other camp, pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be rested for the second match, which will lead to a change in India’s lineup.

ENGLAND PLAYING XI

Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue, Shoaib Bashir.
