
Pakistan-Iran Relations: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday (24 June 2025) committed to support Iran on all forums and discussed the rapidly changing situation in West Asia with Saudi Arabia and Qatar diplomats. A government statement said that Pakistan’s Foreign Office expressed deep concern over the increasing tension, which was threatened to the security situation in the area. Prime Minister Sharif committed to support Iran on all forums. Earlier, President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire to end the Israeli-Iran war.
According to the official statement, during a telephone conversation with Iranian leader Masood Pageshkian, Sharif said that Pakistan is keeping a close watch on the rapidly changing situation in West Asia. He emphasized the importance of restoring peace through dialogue and diplomacy. He reiterated Pakistan’s support for Iran on all diplomatic forums, including the United Nations Security Council and the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC), as well as called all sides to follow international law and United Nations Charter Principles.
President Page Seshakian Shahbaz Sharif said thanks
According to the statement, President Page Sakian thanked the Prime Minister for interaction on telephone and praised Iran’s theoretical support from Pakistan during the crisis. He also accepted Pakistan’s creative role in promoting a peaceful solution to the struggle. This was the second time during the recent struggle when the two leaders spoke. In a telephone conversation with President Page Sakian on 14 June, Sharif strongly condemned Israel’s attacks against Iran, which violates his sovereignty and regional integrity, reflecting the United Nations Charter and the entire violation of international law. The Prime Minister also said that Iran has the right to self -defense, as provided under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
Sharif’s statement on Saudi Arabia’s brotherhood
Earlier in the day, Sharif confirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with ‘Saudi Arabia’s brotherhood’ and said in a social media post that he met Saudi diplomat Nawaf bin Saeed Al Malki and discussed the rapidly changing situation in West Asia. The Prime Minister posted on ‘X’ and said, “Pakistan will continue to work closely with Saudi Arabia for peace in the region through dialogue and diplomacy.” Shahbaz said in another post that he also met Qatar’s Ambassador Ali Mubarak Ali Esa al-Khatar and during this time he expressed united with Qatar rich and people after the attack on American military base last night.
Permanent peace in West Asia is the only remedy-Pakistan
Prime Minister Sharif said, “Pakistan has always advocated dialogue and diplomacy as the only solution of permanent peace in West Asia.” He said that Pakistan prays for the safety of the people of Qatar and the entire region. Pakistan’s Foreign Office said in a statement that Pakistan expresses its deep concern over the increasing tension in the area as a result of attacks on the US Al Udid ‘Air Base’ in Qatar. It said, “We strongly condemn the recent events that violate the theory of sovereignty and respect for regional integrity of all countries.” We urge to follow the fundamental principles of international law and call on all sides to be restrained. “Pakistan reiterated all struggles to resolve its call to resolve through dialogue and diplomacy and urged to take immediate steps to reduce stress.
