The latest recipe causing a stir? Gajar Ka Halwa Dosa. Yes, really.
Both Gajar ka Halwa, a North Indian dessert, and Dosa, a classic South Indian savoury dish, are delicious in their own right. But mixing the two? That’s where one should draw the line.
In a video, reportedly from Indore, a local vendor spreads dosa batter on a frying pan, then adds gajar ka halwa and rabdi (another classic Indian dish) before folding it into what he calls Gajar Ke Halwe Ka Dosa. Not just this, he presented the dish by cutting the dosa into 4 pieces and arranging it in a cylindrical shape on a plate and adding more rabdi to it.
As soon as the video hit the internet, it grabbed foodies’ attention, sparking a flurry of reactions, most of them overwhelmingly negative. An Instagram user commented, “Iske saath chutney milegi yaa chashni (Will you get chutney or sugar syrup with it?).” Another one wrote, “Ye sab kya dekhna pad rha hai. Achha hai me andha hu (Why do I have to see all this. It’s good that I am blind).” One of them shared, “Is zeher ko kya naam dun (What should I call this poison).”
Another user shared, “Matlab kyo? Aisi kya majboori raho hogi? Top in their categories and you ruined them like this). “
“Bhai country ko aise unite nahi karna rha (The country was not supposed to unite like this),” a comment read. Another one reads, “Ye Paap Hai (This is a sin).” A user asked for “Justice for dosa.”
