More and more people today are paying close attention to what they eat by carefully checking labels to see what’s inside their food. Many who follow special diets often avoid popular foods like dosa, vada, bread and chocolate because they think these are not good for them. But now, thanks to brands like Nandini Dairy, Milky Mist and Epigamia, enjoying these foods without feeling guilty is possible. These companies have created tasty products that are packed with protein, which makes them great for those who want to eat well and stay healthy.
A fitness coach recently shared some healthy options to enjoy dosa and idlis without feeling guilty. Instead of using regular batter. He explained, “A company (Nandini Dairy) that makes Idli and dosa batter has launched a new version that is rich in protein. In 100 grams of this batter, you get 15 grams of protein. That’s 10 grams more than what you get from their usual batter. I used 200 grams of this mix to make 5 idlis, and the full plate gave me 30 grams of protein and about 354 calories. That’s quite good, especially because idlis are usually known for being high in carbs, not protein.”
“The taste and feel of these idlis are a little different from the regular ones, but I still enjoyed eating them. When I made dosas using the same batter, they came out nice and crispy like usual. To add protein, they’ve used ingredients like pea protein, soy protein and brown rice protein. Even though there’s no milk in it, it still gives a good mix of nutrients your body needs,” he added.
Many believe that vada pav is not healthy because it’s fried and has bread. But a health expert named Prashant Desai shared something interesting that goes against this idea. He sent a vada pav for testing in a lab in Germany and the report showed that it contains 9 grams of protein. Even if you eat just the vada without the bread, you still get the same amount of protein, but with fewer carbs. According to Desai, if you need more protein in your diet, eating two vadas can give you around 18 grams.
Another Fitness Trainer shared five high protein food options that are easy to find. For ice creams, brands like Get A Whey and Brooklyn Creamery offer options with good protein content. If you’re looking for protein rich bread, Protein Chef and Health Factory are popular picks. For paneer lovers, Punjab Sindh’s low fat paneer and Milky Mist are both great choices. Skyr from Milky Mist is another solid option, or you can try Epigamia Turbo, which has similar nutrition. For chocolates, you can try Ditch the Guilt or Whole Truth.
So, if you care about your diet but still want to enjoy your favourite snacks, these new options could be just what you need.
