Bangladesh paid about $ 1.2 billion from the outstanding electricity bill to Adani Power

Adani Power: Bangladesh has paid an Indian business tycoon Gautam Adani’s company Adani Power about $ 1.2 billion out of the outstanding electricity bill of about $ 2 billion. There was a deal between Adani Power and Bangladesh in 2017. Under this, the company will have to supply electricity in Bangladesh for the next 25 years. Under this deal, Bangladesh has paid $ 1.2 billion out of about $ 2 billion dols from 2017 to Adani Power. Its information has been given in the Reuters report.

Due to this, there was a delay in bill payment

In 2022, Bangladesh was going through an economic crisis due to increasing import cost due to the war between Ukraine and Russia. Also, due to the political upheaval in August last year, the company had reduced its supply here due to not being able to pay the outstanding bill to Adani Power amidst all the challenges like the Sheikh Hasina government’s withdrawal from power. Later, after the payment process started, electricity was restored again and according to the report, Bangladesh has paid $ 1.2 billion so far. Now the company is being paid more than the monthly monthly billing amount.

Now the company has to pay and money

Dilip Jha, Chief Financial Officer of Adani Power, said last Thursday, “We are now supplying full electricity to Bangladesh. Now the payment we are getting is more than the monthly billing amount.

He further said, “We hope that we will not only get the payment of the bill of the month, but will also be repaid.” According to the Reuters report, Bangladesh still has to pay $ 900 million dues. The company hopes that Bangladesh will pay the entire dues.
