While the diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan have dropped to its lowest point following the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, social media has become a battleground of its own — filled with memes and humorous comments. As tensions escalated between the two nations following New Delhi’s announcement regarding the freeze of the Indus Water Treaty, a video of US President Donald Trump is going on social media claiming that he roasted the entire Pakistan with his jocular speech.

In the viral clip, captioned as “Donald Trump trolled whole Pakistan on Water”, the US President can be seen ‘water-starved’, saying “Ahh..Ahh…I need water…help me…I need water.”

Sharing the video, social media users claimed that Trump was trying to roast Pakistan as the nation is suffering from a water shortage after India froze the Indus treaty, stopping water from flowing into the neighbouring country. The video was even shared by BJP leader Tajinder Bagga on his Instagram handle.

But the question is: Did Trump really troll Pakistan? The answer is ‘No’. The clip of the US President being shared online is totally out of context. Trump’s hilarious water-starving gesture is not targeted towards Pakistan.

The clip in which Trump is claimed to be mocking Pakistan over water shortage following the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty by India actually dates back to 2013. News18 fact-checked the video and it was found that the US President was ridiculing Marco Rubio back then over his watery gaffe.

In 2013, Trump mocked Rubio’s water break, calling him a “choke artist” as he held up a bottle of water, took a swig, then casually threw it over his shoulder.

The clip, which is going viral, is taken out of context and has no mention of Pakistan or the Indus treaty. The clip was taken out of context by social media users and edited according to the current situation between India and Pakistan.
