India-Canada Relations : Relations between India and Canada have remained tense since last year. During this, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made many allegations against India. Anita Anand, Transport Minister of the Government of Canada, has issued a statement on Monday (November 18). In the statement, he said that his ministry will increase security measures for people traveling to India. He has talked about taking ‘extreme care’ in checking people traveling to India.
‘Additional Security Check Measures’ Temporary effect in Canada
He said that Transport Canada has temporarily implemented additional security screening measures for passengers coming to India. Passengers may face slight delays in screening while these new security-related rules of the Government of Canada are in effect. Another government official has informed CBC News that in Canada, these measures are being taken by the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA). It is the agency responsible for screening passengers and their luggage before entering restricted areas of airports in Canada.
What will be included in the investigation measure??
The screening carried out by CATSA also includes hand checks when a person is suspected or needs to be traced, passing carry-on bags through X-ray machines and physically examining passengers (frisking). It is noteworthy that the statement issued by Canada’s Transport Minister has no connection with any incident. He has not even revealed any concrete reason behind this.
