A shocking incident has emerged in Ujjain where a newly married woman was forcibly taken from her in-laws’ house by her own family members following a love marriage. The woman’s family, furious about her marriage to her boyfriend, not only assaulted her but also vandalised the house before taking her away.
The entire ordeal was caught on CCTV cameras and the footage is now circulating widely on social media.
The incident occurred in Giriraj Ratan Colony within the Chimanganj police station area of Ujjain. Shubham Malviya, a resident of the colony, had married Kumkum Patidar from Shajapur at a temple on April 11. The couple had given their statements at the police station on April 14 and returned home happily.
However, it seems that Kumkum’s family did not approve of the union. According to Shubham, the family had been threatening him over the phone since April 14.
On Monday evening, the girl’s family arrived at Shubham’s house. What began as a conversation quickly escalated into violence. Shubham’s father, mother, uncle, and aunt were beaten with belts and sticks. The family broke down the gate and forcibly took the girl away.
The nearby CCTV camera captured the entire incident. Following the release of the video, the Chimanganj Mandi police station has registered a case against unknown assailants and initiated an investigation. Shubham has expressed his fear for his and his wife’s safety.
